RGB Drive and Bias adjustments are in coarse steps means difficult to achieve a proper color-temperature setting. Moreover, numerical readouts for the bias or drive adjustments are missing.

The analog Y-Pb-Pr HD outputs are disabled in case one connect via DVI, unlike in the case of Motorola 6200.

Digital cable channels are receivable only if they are not encrypted the the cable operator.

He also reviewed HD-5000, a master remote control, AV switcher, NTSC tuner, DTV receiver, and video scaler, all rolled in one. He found it to be bulky and larger than any other tuner-switcher he had seen.

Performance

He found a bit of attenuation on the color-difference signals when checking out PD-5030's 480i performance. He found some scan-line artifacts in the test flag sequence. Regrading color reproduction, he observed that reds and greens tended to have a bit too much yellow in them—reds went slightly orange, and greens really popped at times.

While the best plasmas usually have black levels of 0.117fL or below, Mitsubishi had higher footlamberts resulting in harsher and abrupt lumniance transitions. Result was that the richmess of colors suffered.

PD-5030 performed only average with standard-def material and movie watching experience was not that great.

The PC input is marked VGA Only.

Conclusions

His biggest gripe was the high level of black that impeded movie viewing experience.
