Mitsubishi Motors USA Dying
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse was released just a couple of months ago with huge promotional budgets. We expect its sales to continually go down from here as its novelty wears off, Mitsubishi decreases its ad spending and competitors come up with new models. Galant, that was resigned only recently last year, survived. However, most of the other models seemed to be doing down in sales extremely fast. We predict very dim future for Mitsubishi.
Total Sales
Eclipse 2006 sold 2,324 units - fewer than 2,331 units Mitsubishi Motors sold in July of this year. We expect sales numbers to be lower in coming months. If we exclude Eclipse sales, Mitsubishi sold 8,621 vehicles in August 2005 compared to 9,520 units it sold in August 2004 - a drop of about 9 percent.
It sold 3,528 units of Galant compared to 3,049 units it sold during August 2004. We suspect heavy promotions have something to do with it. We will wait for future sales numbers. We expect the numbers to go down here too.
If we exclude sales of Eclipse, Galant, and Lancer Evolution, rest of cars, and all the SUVs sold 4,145 units comparedf to 6,122 units it sold a year ago, showing a sales drop of over 26 percent!
