Drastic Sales Drops: Cars -39%, Minicars: -26

Only when one would have thought that things couldn't get any worse, MMC has surprised many by registering another drastic sales drop during the month of February of 2005. According to Bloomberg reports, Mitsubishi Motors auto sales dropped by nearly 40% to 5,723 units. Considering that in Japan Mitsubishi group employees number in hundreds of thousands and many of them get incentive to buy MMC cars through various discount programs and there is 'perceived' pressure on them to buy a Mitsubishi vehicle, mitsubishisucks.com would venture to guess that most of these 5,723 cars were sold to Mitsubishi group employees and suppliers and the general public in Japan avoided these cars like plague.

In minicars, vechicles with engine capacity less than 660cc, it did comparatively better, with sales dropping by 'mere' 26%. Enough said.

Toyota, Nissan Improve Sales

Toyota's sales increased by 3% to 164,028, while Nissan saw its sales increased 6.5% to 80,905 cars. In the minicar category, Suzuki increased its sales by 3% to 53,847 while the number 2 manufacturer Daihatsu increases its sales to 55,296, an increase of over 8.7 percent.
