Sharp Sales Drops: Vehicles 60%, Minivehicles: 48%, Fuso 30%
MMC seems to be boycotted by Japanese consumers. Sales of vehicles, excluding minivehicles (660 cc or less), fell by 60% to 4,711 units. Mini-vehicles sold 11,151 units, a drop of 48 percent. Mitsubishi Fuso truck and Bus disappointed too, with its sales falling by 30 percent to 5,036 units. Last month's sales drops figures were quite similar.
Toyota, Honda Improve Sales
Toyota Motors sold 160,347 passenger cars, a rise of 3 percent over last year's figure. Honda Motors sales rose 24 percent to 47,557 units. Overall the auto industry sold slightly more passenger cars than last year and mini-vehicle sales went up by about 3.7 percent to 160,090 units.
