Mitsubishi Eclipse Lost Most Sales in 2009
Jan 26, 2010. 2009 was a particularly bad year with total US sales dropping to 10.2 million. A few companies like Hyundai managed to increase their unit sales but many fared very badly. Mitsubishi Motors is one of those who fared extremely badly though not as bad as the Hummer. As a result Mitsubishi is at the center of speculation over when is it going to exit the US market. John Koenig, executive vice president-MMNA, stated recently that "We have assured (our dealers) we are not leaving the North American market." On July 9th, 2009, Mitsubishi Motors President Osamu Masuko claimed in Tokyo "We will never give up the U.S. market, the U.S. will return to being the world's biggest market."
Mitsubishi Eclipse Lost 67% Sales in 2009 over 2008 - Worst Among All Models
Mitsubishi's Eclipse - the chubby underpowered model lost 67% sales over 2008, placing it first in the list of losers of the year. It need not feel lonely at the top though. Mitsubishi Galant followed it closely, losing 61% of its sales in 2009 over year 2008, placing it at 8th position in the Biggest Losers of 2009.
