Complaint Description: driver was turning corner at approximately 5mph when steering wheel locked up causing vehicle to side swipe another car. vehicle was taken in 6/29/99 for recall sr-99-007 and for second recall on 4/13/01 for sr-01-007, lower lateral arm ball joint. dealer was informed of steering problem which seemed to occur when raining. accident occured after several days of intermittent rain. ironically, received letter on the same day as accident from local dealer stating "we understand the inconvenience that came along with your recent safety notification letter. mitsubishi motors is concerned for your safety and i urge you to bring your vehicle in for a free inspection. we want you to feel confident about owning a mitsubishi and we're committed to maintaining your safety and trust.
