Complaint Description: specifically, the drivers-side mat gets stuck under the accelerator pedal. it is a hazard, especially when trying to accelerate onto a merge or when passing other vehicles. the dealer installed a clip to hold the mat in place, however, the clip doesn't even stay in place. on many, many occasions, i will step on the accelerator and the mat gets stuck, forcing the acceleration even further and not letting you slow down the acceleration speed. in other words, it feels like you have no control over the vehicle's acceleration speed, for the mat actually holds the pedal down. i believe the mats are defective, either too thick to fit under the accelerator pedal or too heavy for the clip. i drove the car for an entire year, thinking there was something wrong with the accelerator until i got my car washed and the mats were adjusted (pulled further back under the drivers seat) before i realized the mat was getting caught under the accelerator. i've reported this to mitsubishi on numerous occasions, and even had a mat clip installed, but i've found that the only thing that works, is if i actually retro-fit the mat and turn it backwords. then and only then, does the mat stay in place, but only temporarily, for when you get in and out of the car or in normal foot to pedal maneuvers (when driving or braking) the mat shifts under the accelerator pedal again, causing the accelerator to stick again. thank you.*ak .
